Karol Yáñez

Karol is an artist and environmental activist who has been critically engaging with the notions of place and memory through a multidisciplinary practice. Exploring the fundamental elements of composition, she has created boundary-pushing geometric abstractions inspired by nature and organic movement, charting new frontiers within the medium. In her latest canvases, created during the pandemic, she uses unique geometric motifs combined with body-inspired movements, to produce freeing visual effects.

Karol’s work is never far from the transcendental. The physical elements of her artistic expression — from oil canvases to textiles, tree leaves, watercolours, collages, acrylic and video installations are as symbolically resonant as they are vast-ranging. By integrating, expanding, and regenerating imagery and textures, she brings to light the importance of the sacred and spiritual.
